Pete Wicks found himself in an "awkward" situation when he flew back to the UK with I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner Sam Thompson.

As soon as they landed, Sam, 31, was reunited with his girlfriend, former Love Island star Zara McDermott, 26, and Pete, 35, shared a photo of the moment on Instagram. In the snap, Pete is seen standing next to the couple holding a bunch of balloons.

He then posted a picture of the old man from the Disney film Up, also holding some balloons, and captioned it: "They were reunited...I was awkward [balloon emoji]" Fans quickly commented on the post, with one saying: "Brilliant! Bet you felt like a Balloon" and another joking: "3rd wheeling."

Loose Women's Colleen Nolan also responded to the funny pic, simply sharing a string of laughing emojis. Sam was crowned King of the Jungle on Sunday, December 10 after beating fellow finalists Tony Bellew and Nigel Farage by getting the most public votes.

He's been celebrating his win ever since, and finally returned to social media on Tuesday (12 December) to thank I'm A Celebrity fans before his flight home from Brisbane Airport.

Sam wrote on his social media: "I'M COMING HOME!!!! I only just got my phone back this morning, and I don't quite know where to begin, but I want to start first of all by saying thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, there aren't quite the words to describe how grateful I am for each and everyone of you who supported me during my time in the jungle,"

He continued: "You made a young boys dream (now slightly older) come true, and I will never ever forget that." He admitted he "didn't know what to expect" when he entered the jungle and was "a bit nervous" but he stopped worrying on "day 2".

Sam also expressed: "I had no idea of all the support, love and kindness that you all showed me, and reading some of your comments and messages, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude!!!"

"Never in my wildest dreams, did I expect to be crowned King of the Jungle, or that I'd get to do CYCLONE! Every time Ant and Dec walked into camp, I convinced myself that it was going to be me that went next."

He ended his post by saying: "Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!! I have more people to thank, and a couple more soppy posts, but my first thank you had to be to all of you. I Love you."
