Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks found themselves in a bit of a pickle at a wild BRITs party.

The cheeky pair, known for their fun antics, ended up getting more attention than they bargained for. They were the hosts on the red carpet at last month's BRIT Awards, chatting with top celebrities before handing over to main presenters Roman Kemp, Maya Jama, and Clara Amfo for the main event.

But it didn't take long for Sam and Pete to land in hot water. On their podcast, Staying Relevant, they shared an embarrassing story about meeting the police. Former TOWIE star Pete told listeners about the mishap that happened when he went out for a cigarette break with Sam.

He said: "I needed to go out for a cigarette and Sam came with me." They were outside for quite some time until their manager, Charlotte, had to come looking for them. Pete continued: "So Chaz came and found us, and we were surrounded by the Met police. Now that sounds bad but yeah, I think there was about 15 of them."

That's when Made In Chelsea star Sam noticed Pete's smoking spot was risky because it was next to wooden chips on the ground. Sam pointed out: "Where Pete's having a cigarette, he's come around the side part of the entrance to the red carpet. And he's having a cigarette but there's wooden chips on the floor and he's having a cigarette by it."

"And there's two coppers right behind us and he goes, before they've even come over, he tells me, 'I'm worried they're gonna come over and tell me to move along'. And I went, 'He's gonna get moved along'. And lo and behold, five minutes later [they said], 'Excuse me, boys' and Pete just looked at them."

Pete interjected: "I literally went, 'Oh for f**k sake'." As Sam struggled to continue through his laughter, the amused star went on: "Pete literally looks at them in disgust and was like, 'For F**k's sake' and they went, 'Can we have a photo? ' And I went, 'How bad do you feel now, Pete?'".

The comedy duo then burst into laughter after almost being told off by the police at the glamorous event. But that wasn't their first run in with trouble at the awards ceremony. Previously on the podcast, the duo revealed that they had been turned away from the event as they pulled up to the red carpet entry area.

Taking to Instagram, the I'm a Celebrity winner took a selfie with Pete looking annoyed which he captioned: "We can't get in." Just an hour later, the TV star shared another clip of the Pete looked annoyed a he chuckled: "This is what I came for." Thankfully, the pair eventually made it onto the red carpet.
