Kym Marsh’s relationship is causing controversy after it was revealed her new boyfriend is the same age as her son.
The 47-year-old Coronation Street actress revealed she has found love again with her 29-year-old co-star. Kym announced the news on Instagram yesterday, gushing that her new beau is the “most amazing man ever”.
Sharing a sweet snap of her kissing her new boyfriend, Samuel Thomas, whom she met while working together on 101 Dalmations: The Musical, Kym wrote in the caption: “Met the most amazing man ever! Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. @samuelthomasuk I love you #beautiful #soulmate #loveyou.”
The former Hear’Say singer has had a pretty turbulent time in the world of relationships over the past 30 years. Kym shares her eldest children, 29-year-old David and 27-year-old Emilie, with her ex-partner builder Dave Cunliffe, whom she met in 1994.

While Emilie has followed in her mum’s footsteps, embarking on her own singing career, Kym’s son David has tended to stay away from the spotlight. The family man welcomed his first baby boy, Clayton, with his fiance Courtney Carter in 2022.
After Kym and Dave sadly split in 1999, the stunning brunette moved on with Eastenders star Jack Ryder, whom she married in 2002.
Following the end of her seven-year marriage to Jack in 2009, Kym started dating Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas. The couple tragically lost their first son Archie, who was born prematurely and died shortly after birth in 2010.
A year later, the duo had happier news when they welcomed their now-13-year-old daughter Polly. Kym and Jamie got married in 2012 but divorced in 2014.
Kym met her third husband, Army Major Scott Ratcliff, in 2019. The couple got married in a lavish ceremony in 2021 but sadly split two years later, in May 2023.
Considering Kym’s chequered dating history, many fans were happy to see she had found love again, with one commenting: “You deserve this kind of happiness after everything you’ve been through over the years.”
However, others were not so thrilled with the news, slamming Kym for dating a man was born the same year as her son, David. One fan wrote: “He looks like your son”, accompanied by three sick face emojis. Another added: “Each to their own but I couldn't go out with someone I could have given birth to.”
Apparently addressing the cruel comments, Samuel responded with a furious now-deleted statement on his Instagram story, writing: "Opinions are like a*******s. Everyone's got one but they're still a*******s."
