After being dropped by Simon Cowell's label 'Syco' after poor sales, Shane joined the cast of Rock of Ages in 2011, and went on to star in Coronation Street until his character's tragic death in 2018. During his time on the soap, he won both a National Television Award and an Inside Soap Award.
Shayne has continued to act following his Coronation Street departure, appearing several dramas.
He is married to former Hollyoaks actress, Sophie Austin and the couple have two children. Shayne will take part in the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
