Nadine Dorries has claimed there is a Tory fixer in No10 who chopped a former girlfriend’s pet rabbit into four pieces and nailed it to her family’s front door.
The embittered ex-Cabinet Minister, who was previously a contestant on I'm A Celebrity, said the shadowy figure known as “Dr No” had also tried to set fire to a house while children were sleeping inside.
In her new book, she says she will expose the “deeply entrenched degree of corruption” that “lies at the heart of the Conservative Party” and Downing Street. Ms Dorries stepped down as an MP in August after she failed to get a peerage in Boris Johnson’s resignation honours.
Last night she claimed she had been told she could be blacklisted from ever entering the Lords after she failed to allow the Cabinet Office to see a copy of her book before it was published. Under the ministerial code, former ministers intending to publish their memoirs are required to submit a draft in advance so it can be vetted for confidential information or material that could risk national security.
In a tweet, Ms Dorries wrote: “A hard rain is coming to those who have distorted our democracy. No nomination, no public appointment is as important to me as exposing the poison which lies at the heart of the Conservative Party and No10.”
The ex-minister who was Mr Johnson’s biggest cheerleader is understood to have identified four figures who she blames for him leaving No10. He announced he was stepping down as PM last July after he was accused of not telling the truth about sex pest allegations made against one of his ministers.
The Daily Mail is understood to have paid around £100,000 to serialise Ms Dorries’s book, which is titled The Plot: The Political Assassination of Boris Johnson. It was delayed for several weeks because of legal issues. In the first instalment of the extracts, she focuses on the unnamed man she refers to as “Dr No” who allegedly has his salary paid for by the Conservatives but has a Downing Street pass. “Rishi Sunak doesn't move without first seeking his advice,” she wrote.
Ms Dorries accused the man of being behind dirty dossiers of untrue sex claims about Liz Truss and her husband. She wrote: “When a girlfriend ended their relationship, it is rumoured that he had her little brother's pet rabbit chopped into four and nailed to the front door of the family home to greet him when he got home from school, in true Mafia style.” The Daily Mail said it had spoken to the brother in question who told the newspaper: “I definitely had a rabbit, and I don't now.”
Ms Dorries went on: “Dr No loves violence too. If ever there is a demonstration in Downing Street and he's in there, he will slip out of the back door into the street and he seeks out the violent clashes. He doesn't take part, he just cruises around and watches.” She said that someone had once told her: "He's just a very bad man with an evil mind, and in politics every Prime Minister needs a man just like him by his side.”
A Cabinet Office spokesman said: "This book was not submitted to the Cabinet Office for review, and so the author is in breach of the Radcliffe Rules." The Rules prohibit the publication of content which is damaging to national security or is confidential.
