Jack Grealish and his partner Sasha Attwood have announced they are expecting their first child together.

Grealish broke the news on his Instagram account, sharing a picture of himself hugging his girlfriend from behind, with both of their hands over her pregnancy bump. The Manchester City star was understandably delighted that he will welcome his first child to the world this year - and captioned the post by writing: "Life’s biggest blessing."

The footballer's childhood sweetheart shared the same picture on her account, captioning her post by writing: "Half of me , half of you - beyond blessed." The couple first started dating when they were teenagers at school together in Solihull.

They have been together throughout Grealish's professional career, with Attwood following him from his early time at Aston Villa before they left their hometown of Birmingham when the England star joined City for £100million in 2021.

Attwood works as a model, advertising for brands including L'Oreal, House of Fraser, Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo. She has also been supporting Grealish through what was a difficult season in which he suffered several injuries before being left out of the England squad for Euro 2024.

Grealish was left surprised by his omission, but his absence from the tournament has allowed him to help Attwood through her pregnancy. It is unknown when they are expecting their new baby to be born.

Meanwhile, with Grealish not in the squad, England have struggled with fluency in attack, though have reached the semi-finals, where they will face the Netherlands. Speaking ahead of the tournament, boss Gareth Southgate defended his decision to exclude Grealish from his squad.

"The fact is we've got some players who have been playing extremely well all season in the league and we just feel other players have had stronger seasons - particularly in the past six months or so," Southgate said.

"We saw some fantastic performances the other night which underlined some of that and in the attacking area of the pitch we're blessed with a lot of options and they're all slightly different.

"[ James Maddison ] and Jack [Grealish] would have provided us with something different as well and they've been tough calls. They're calls we've gone over and over and over as a group of staff to try to be fair and to try to use the right rationale.

"We back our decisions but we recognise we could have gone a different route. The boys are big characters, fabulous team-mates and great boys to work with. It's sad to have to deliver that news to them."
