Spice Girls singer Mel B and her daughter Phoenix Chi have been signed up for the forthcoming series of Celebrity Gogglebox.

It is the first time the pair will have teamed up on TV. Phoenix, 25, appeared in ITV’s Olympics series The Games two years ago. Pop star Mel, 48, has been a judge on numerous TV talent shows including The X Factor. A Celebrity Gogglebox insider said: “It’s so exciting to have Scary Spice and Phoenix on the sofa together, they’re going to be fantastic.”

The Channel 4 show – also featuring the likes of Martin and Roman Kemp, Fearne Cotton, Gok Wan, Rylan Clark, Clare Balding and Gyles Brandreth – returns for a sixth series on June 7. Mel, who was born and raised in Leeds, has previously described her eldest child Phoenix, who grew up in the US as “very wise”.

The Spice Girls will soon celebrate their 30th anniversary

It comes after Mel B revealed in her new book a Spice Girls 30th anniversary live reunion is imminent. In the newly added chapters to her autobiography the singer and author ends the book on a positive note having come out of the other side of a troubled marriage and now having her life back on track.

Mel says: "I am getting better. The therapy is working. I am working on it. Someday soon I do believe things will improve. The Spice Girls will all be out there, all five of us together again - yes, I'm saying it, it will happen."

Discussing the Spice Girls in more details, Mel - dubbed Scary Spice - lifted the lid on the outrageous backstage demands she and her Spice Girls pals made on their last reunion tour in 2019. She says: "There are rows, yes. There are nightmare moments. There is always lots of stress."
