The Thursday Murder Club book series has no end in sight, as author Richard Osman is officially penning the fifth instalment.

Last week, the former Pointless star showed off his pad and pen at the ready on social media, having underlined 'TTMC 5' on the top line of an open page. "Every new book starts somewhere," read Osman's teasing caption.

Launched four years ago, his beloved collection currently consists of 2020's The Thursday Murder Club, 2021's The Man Who Died Twice, 2022's The Bullet That Missed and 2023's The Last Devil to Die, with Steven Spielberg's production company Amblin Entertainment acquiring global film rights to the first entry six months before its publication.

Following Osman's semi-announcement, his loyal readers shared some narrative suggestions, including: "I think Ron needs a cat", "Joyce needs a man" and "I really hope there's at least 2 murders and 2 weddings!! Soo excited!!!"

"Will Elizabeth and Victoria head to Dubai?" asked somebody else, while another comment read: "I would love to see more of the grandson - cool kids make adult books even cooler".

A sixth fan went on to ask how long they'd have to wait for the book's release, too.

While this was going on, Harry Potter filmmaker Chris Columbus is now shooting The Thursday Murder Club film for Netflix, with the legendary Sir Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and Celia Imrie taking on the four lead roles of Ibrahim, Ron, Elizabeth and Joyce. The story sees them investigating the death of a property developer in their retirement village.
