Good Morning Britain viewers were left delighted as Charlotte Hawkins made a return to our TV screens after a short break.

During Thursday’s episode of the ITV hit breakfast show, the TV presenter, 49, took on hosting duties alongside co-star Adil Ray, 50.

Speaking at the start of the show, Charlotte went on to say: “Good Morning everyone, it has just gone past 6am. Do you know what, I’m back.”

Adil turned to his co-star and said: “Welcome back. You know what I’m back.” Charlotte revealed: “It feels a bit strange after two weeks and not having the early alarm go off.”

She continued: “I think this is the longest I have had off for a very long time so it was a bit of a shock to the system.”

Adil asked: “What have you been doing for two weeks?” Charlotte revealed: “I’ve been doing all sorts of water sports actually. A lot of sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and a little bit of water skiing. It’s been a great fun family water holiday we went on.”

A picture of Charlotte then popped up on a screen as she said: “Oh yes that’s me on a Kayak.” Adil jumped in: “Oh very nice.”

Charlotte admitted: “I didn’t take many pictures but that was one of the action shots and I highly recommend it.” Adil asked: “So where did you go? If you don’t mind me asking.” Charlotte explained: “We went to Greece then to the Isle of Wight. It was a holiday of two halves.”

Looking shocked, Adil turned to Charlotte and said: “You’ve had two holidays.” Charlotte replied: “I know. I just wanted to squeeze it all into one.”

Just minutes before making her return, Charlotte took to her official Twitter and wrote: “Morning! I’m back after a break & it’s lovely to kick things off with good news about a breakthrough drug that reportedly slows the progression of Alzheimer’s & hopefully be a game changer. I’m here with @adilray & @DrHilaryJones has more on the difference this could make.”

Viewers watching at home went straight to social media to share their reaction. One wrote: “Nice to hear Charlotte had a good holiday/s Water sports holiday. That's nice.”

Another commented: “Welcome back Charlotte.” One said: “Charlotte it back. Hope you had a lovely holiday.” Meanwhile one added: “So good to see Charlotte this morning.”
