Love Island was full of drama on Sunday night as Joey Essex was accused of 'game playing' by a series of ex Islanders.

On Friday night's episode, the villa received a shock text, which read: "Islanders, tonight each couple must vote for the two couples who they think are least compatible, those who receive a vote risk being dumped from the Island. You must now discuss in your couples who you’re going to choose and then submit your decision by text. You must not discuss your decision with anyone else."

It was a tough decision for the Islanders and at the end of the episode, narrator Iain Stirling revealed: "Joey and Jessy, Ayo and Jess, Sean and Matilda, and Josh and Mimii are all at risk of being dumped." However, in an explosive twist at the end of the episode, it was revealed that all of the past Islanders would be returning to the villa.

On Sunday night, host, Maya Jama, told the villa: "Today, one final couple will be dumped from the villa ending their Love Island journey and that decision isn’t in your hands. Your future on Love Island will be decided by some very familiar faces." With the vulnerable Islanders awaiting their fate, a procession of former Islanders made their way into the villa...

Led by the first dumped Islander of the series, Sam, it then saw Patsy, Munveer, Samantha, Omar, Harriett, Ronnie, Uma, Wil, Jess, Hugo, Grace and Reuben all follow as they gathered around the fire pit. Having returned to the villa, the ex Islanders held the power to decide which couple should be dumped from the Island.

Standing up one by one and giving their reasons, Joey found himself under fire by a few of the past Islanders and was even accused of 'game playing' to which he angrily hit back at the claims.

Patsy said: "I have picked this couple because I think out of all the couples it’s just my opinion that maybe it’s the least genuine connection and maybe the guy has got a game head on and is thinking more about the game rather than the girl", revealing it was Joey and Jessy Potts. Joey was quick to deny any game playing and hit back at the claims.

Meanwhile, Joey's ex, Samantha Kenny, got her revenge later on the episode as she said: "It is a really hard decision, I haven’t met half of you because I was only here for two weeks. I do think this person in particular has a game plan and he has since day one."

Samantha added: "I do think he has a lot of opinions on everyone else's relationship but as soon as it comes to his own he bites the bullet a bit doesn’t he. Personally, I don’t think that this person deserves to be in the final so I’m picking…" to which she revealed it was Joey and Jessy. Eventually, it was revealed Joey and Jessy had the most votes - therefore they were dumped from the villa.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: "Joey is stressed #loveisland", a different account wrote: "Joey cant catch a break man #loveisland" while another put: "I wasn’t expecting joey and jessy to get this many votes #loveisland."
