The star of Doctor Foster has been talking about her new play on Lorraine, but the host could not resist asking about the ITV show.

Lorraine Kelly was joined by Suranne Jones and actor Jason Watkins to discuss their play, called Frozen, which is on in the West End for another seven weeks.

But Lorraine was desperate to know all the ins and outs of the new series of Doctor Foster, which truly captured the nation's hearts as the second series aired in 2017.

Suranne, however, was giving nothing away about the future of the show, though she did not rule out the show filming in 2019 at some time.

She said: "There's seven weeks of this show left then I go on to do a Sally Wainwright drama in Halifax and we're going to film that until December.

"I'm going to look at next year when next year comes because I have a two-year-old as well which is busy busy busy, there's no time off."

The duo also described some interesting rituals which take place between shows, such as a "sausage competition" and picnics on the stage between matinee and evening shows on a Saturday.

They showed their competitive side as well as when discussing their upcoming competition, which was to find a charity shop shirt.

Suranne was frustrated to hear that Jason's wife was out shopping for his shirt that week, but the two showed their firm friendship throughout the interview.

Lorraine airs from 8.30am weekdays on ITV.
