  • ATL Wide Receiver #15
Van Jefferson caught 1-of-4 targets for 14 yards in the Falcons’ Week 9 loss to the Vikings.
Jefferson’s role was set to increase with Drake London (groin) sidelined. While he played a full complement of snaps, Jefferson was a tertiary part of the Atlanta passing attack — even with Mack Hollins (ankle) out for the second half. Jefferson should remain on the waiver wire.
  • KC Quarterback #15
The kickoff for the Chiefs/Ravens’ season-opening Thursday Night Football game has been delayed until 8:40 PM ET due to inclement weather in the Kansas City area.
That’s the bad news. The good news is, the weather has already cleared the area and there should be no further delays. What’s 20 more minutes?
  • SEA Tight End #87
Noah Fant (toe) remained “limited” for Thursday’s practice.
Coach Mike Macdonald said a few weeks ago he was “optimistic” Fant would suit up. A “full” Friday practice would be nice, but most indications are Fant will be out there against the Broncos. With the Seahawks’ pass-catching tight end competition cleared out in free agency, Fant has a path to weekly TE2 value.
  • SEA Wide Receiver #16
Tyler Lockett (thigh) remained “limited” for Thursday’s practice.
We haven’t seen any real concern Lockett will miss Sunday’s season opener against the Broncos, though we’ve also yet to see a clear indication he will play. With his health up in the air for most of training camp, Lockett has tumbled to the WR4/5 borderline as we wait to see how things play out in the Seahawks’ new-look offense under OC Ryan Grubb.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
Chiefs declared WR Marquise Brown, OL C.J. Hanson, DL Marlon Tuipulotu, OT Ethan Driskell and TE Peyton Hendershot inactive for Week 1 against the Ravens.
It’s a quiet list for the Chiefs, who now turn their injury attention toward Brown getting healthy for Week 2 against the Bengals.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Ravens declared WR Devontez Walker, OL Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, S Beau Brade, EDGE Adisa Isaac, C Nick Samac, CB T.J. Tampa and DE Brent Urban inactive for Week 1 against the Chiefs.
It’s a rookie-heavy list for a healthy Ravens team. Fourth-rounder Walker had a quiet training camp in the Ravens’ receiver corps.
  • BAL Running Back #26
Ravens placed RB Rasheen Ali on injured reserve with a neck injury.
Ali earned a “doubtful” tag for Week 1 against the Chiefs, suggesting this is more of a four-game ailment than season-ending issue. It still means Ali is unlikely to get into the 2024 change-of-pace mix behind Derrick Henry, at least until deep into the second half of the season.
  • PIT Quarterback #3
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Russell Wilson’s (calf) status is “firmly up in the air” for Week 1 against the Falcons.
Wilson was added to Thursday’s injury report as “limited” after practicing in full with no designation on Wednesday. Coach Mike Tomlin named Wilson the starter over Justin Fields near the end of training camp, but Wilson’s calf issue has evidently continued to linger even after he played through it during the preseason. What a mess. Whereas Wilson has zero fantasy value, Fields’ dual-threat would immediately put him in the low-end QB1 mix in fantasy. We should have a much better read on the situation 24 hours from now.
  • LAC Running Back #4
Chargers OC Greg Roman confirmed the team will employ a “hot hand” approach between top two running backs Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins.
“We don’t overthink that,” Roman said Thursday. “They’re both going to play and whoever’s got the hot hand, as I tell them, has got the hot hand. So, we’re going to go with the hot hand. And they know that and they get that. Really nothing scientific.” Although in some ways frustrating, Roman’s comments are likely honest, and also just stating the obvious. Possessing a better recent health history with more overall experience in Roman’s system, Edwards will probably get the first crack, especially in the red zone, but Dobbins drew raves for his training camp work. J.K. is also the clear favorite to handle passing-down work in this committee. Both backs should be rostered as fantasy managers wait for the situation to play out.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #9
DJ Chark (hip) remained sidelined for Thursday’s practice.
New coach Jim Harbaugh probably has some injury report shenanigans cooking up for his NFL return, but back-to-back DNPs have Chark almost certainly out vs. the Raiders. Although there are targets for the taking in this wide open position group, Chark is not re-draft relevant.
  • LV Tight End #89
Brock Bowers (foot) remained “limited” for Thursday’s practice.
It’s just semantics, as coach Antonio Pierce has already said Bowers will be active for his NFL debut against the Chargers. It does suggest he’s at least at a slight risk of re-injury, however. Bowers is on the TE1/2 borderline as we wait to see how the Raiders’ targets tree shakes out.
