Vince Carter scored 23 points in his Net debut, but could not finish the game because of severe leg cramps. After losing an 8 point 4th quarter lead, the Nets fell to the Pistons by 10 in overtime. Richard Jefferson led the Nets with 27 points, but struggled down the stretch as the Pistons defense swarmed him when he got the ball. Nenad Krstic added 13 points and 9 rebounds, but the Nets got just 8 points combined on 2 of 18 shooting from Jason Kidd and Jason Collins. Carter came off the bench, but played 42 minutes, shooting 8 of 19 from the field, including 3 of 6 from 3 point range. Richard Hamilton led all scorers with 37 points and Ben Wallace had 17 of his 18 rebounds after halftime.
