Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Brooklyn Nets fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

The New York Nets celebrated the 50th anniversary of its first-ever (ABA) title just a week back — their first of two (1974, 1976). Their head coach at the time, Kevin Loughery, is the only coach to ever lead the Nets to a championship win.

So, no pressure on new head coach Jordi Fernández, right? Not quite.

Fernandez, whose been highly touted around the NBA, has the task of turning a 32-win Nets team into a competitive squad. He may have some help with the potential addition of a star, but that’s yet to be determined. As for his resume — it speaks for itself — with or without a star.

The resume speaks for itself:

  • Impact Basketball Academy (2006-09)
  • Cleveland Cavaliers player development coach (2009–13)
  • Canton Charge assistant (2013-14)
  • Canton Charge head coach (2014–2016)
  • Denver Nuggets assistant (2016-22)
  • Sacramento Kings associate coach (2022-24).

During his introductory press conference, Fernández was asked what excites him about the roster he’s inheriting, to which he responded: “A team that has the ability to play fast in the full-court, half-court. The youth is always great, right, because that allows you to have a team for the long run. That’s what excites me the most, and to make players better. Our job as coaches is to work with those guys and to take them to the next step. If they don’t get better it’s on me and the rest of the coaching staff, so I’m excited about the process.”
