USA vs. Bolivia Betting Pick: Copa America Best Bets

Christian Pulisic and the USMNT get underway in the Copa America on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.

USA's 2024 Copa America on home soil gets underway on Sunday night against Bolivia. The match kicks off at 6 p.m. ET on FOX in Arlington, Tex.

Gregg Berhalter's side is heavily favored against Bolivia, which is widely considered the worst of the 16 teams competing in this tournament. DraftKings, for one, lists the Bolivians' outright odds at +20000, tied with Panama for the longest of any one country in the field.

USA vs. Bolivia Analysis, Best Bets

The Group C odds above should make it clear – in case USA's odds (as long as -650 at FanDuel) for Sunday's game didn't get this across – that this game will likely be one-sided in favor of the hosts.

USA needs a strong performance to wash away the stench still lingering from a 5-1 loss to Colombia in a pre-Copa tune-up on June 8. Berhalter's team bounced back in impressive fashion against a loaded Brazil roster (June 12), but an emphatic victory over Bolivia still feels like a necessity to establish the Americans as a threat in this tournament.

If there's one thing Team USA have proven they can do, it's hammer overmatched minnows in home games – and it will only help that Bolivia supporters will likely be few and far between at AT&T Stadium.

The 2024 Copa America features a number of under-the-radar opponents that can push USA even if the Americans are locked in. Bolivia, whose top player per Transfermarkt is left back Roberto Fernandez of Russian side Baltika Kaliningrad (market value 1M euros), does not fall into that category.

When the ensuing opponents were beatable, and those games took place in the States, Berhalter's USA side has regularly bounced back from its worst showings with much better efforts their next time out. Two instances of this that immediately come to mind include the 2-0 loss to Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League on October 25, 2019 and the loss to Colombia earlier this month.

Case(s) in point: 1) drawing Brazil four days after losing by four goals to Colombia a few weeks ago, and 2) an emphatic revenge game victory -- final score: 4-1, USA -- over Canada a month after the aforementioned loss to the Canadians back in 2019.

The upshot of that trip down memory lane is that there's substantial historical precedent to bank on the Yanks bludgeoning Bolivia in the Lone Star State.

The best plays to maximize value on Sunday include:

Play 1: USA -2.5 (+140) at DraftKings

Argentina-Canada, which opened the Copa on Thursday, served as the latest example that there are no guarantees in international soccer, but don't let that scare you off this sizeable spread.

A couple early goals in front of a fired up home crowd could allow USA to run away with this one.

Play 2: Over 3.5 Goals (+150) at DraftKings

Another way to approach a game that should see plenty of goals by the Americans is to take the alternative Over/Under. This will pay out well if USA starts strong and keeps its foot on the gas.
