That concludes our live coverage of Sunday NRL action.

All focus now turns to State of Origin, with Blues selection expected in the next half-hour.

Dylan Edwards is tipped to earn Origin selection again, and this is what he had to say to Brad Fittler.

That's all she wrote for round 15.

The Knights looked on for a while but the Panthers did enough to hold them off in the second half.

26-18 final score.

Knights vs Panthers LIVE: Panthers denied

Damien McCartney

The Panthers were denied what would have no doubt been an icing try after Jarome Luai threw a pass that was about a half-metre forward.

Although they were probably lucky to have got that far in the play, after Brian To'o clearly passed a ball off the ground.

"Dead set rugby union," Cameron Smith quipped.

Knights vs Panthers LIVE: Panthers in again

The Panthers have restored order off the back of a great break from Moses Leota.

The Knights were tiring off the back of a five-minute burst of live play when Leota made the break back on the 30m line.

He hooked up with Dylan Edwards and the Blues No.1 (maybe?) did the rest.

"Moses parting the seas," Nine commentator Brenton Speed quipped for Nine as Leota made the break.

"At some stage someone was going to crack, and this time it was the Newcastle Knights," Cameron Smith said.

"Penrith have lifted their intensity in the last ten minutes to get themselves back into the match."

Alamoti kicked the extras to give the Panthers some breathing room.

Knights vs Panthers LIVE: BACK TO BACK

The comeback is absolutely on!

Dane Gagai crossed in the corner, but Dylan Edwards did a great job of keeping him up.

After the restart, Hastings put in an early kick and Bradman Best sprinted through to score.

"It looked like a nothing kick but Bradman Best never gave up on it," Andrew Johns said for Nine.

"He just wanted it more," Cameron Smith added.

Hastings added the extras and it's down to a two-point ballgame!

With the exception of that opening try to the Knights, all the points in this one have been scored into the breeze.

"What a game we have on out hands," Nine commentator Brenton Speed said.

Knights vs Panthers LIVE: Knights comeback confirmed?

Damien McCartney

Maybe there is some life in this one! The Knights have scored the opener of this second half.

Back on the 30m line, it looked like there was a bit of a disconnect between Brian To'o and Brad Schneider, and Dylan Lucas ran through a massive hole. He was no chance of being caught from there.

"Lovely little play ... couple of wide passes and then a hole to run into. Beautiful," Cameron Smith said for Nine.

Jackson Hastings added the extras, and just like that the lead is cut to eight points.

Knights vs Panthers LIVE: Second half underway

Damien McCartney

We're back underway at McDonald Jones Stadium, but the Knights haven't made much of an impression in the early going.

The Panthers have had all the field position, and you just feel it's only a matter of time until they score again.

How long can the Knights withstand this?

Knights vs Panthers LIVE: Smith gets on in the meat pie action on half time

Lindsay Smith is the latest Panther to score, and it's off the back of a couple of an awful, awful error from the Knights.

On half way, Dane Gagai was being dragged into touch, but managed to get a very late offload away.

But there wasn't a Knight in Newcastle who was paying attention, and Sorensen got the ball back.

The Panthers then basically marched the 50m to the goal line for Smith to power over the top of two defenders.

"They're just too good - they just camp down your end until you break," Cameron Smith said.

Replays showed Adam O'Brien dropping his head after the Gagai offload.

Knights great Andrew Johns suggested it was a tired end to the half.

"Ten or fifteen metres from the play the ball, the Knights' players are shoulder-to-shoulder," he explained for Nine.

"There is no spacing at all in the way they are defending. The pass gets across four or five defenders and Luai skips ... to the next gap and the spaces just get bigger and bigger and bigger the further you get out."

Again from right next to the sticks, Paul Alamoti added the extras.

20-6 at half time.

Knights vs Panthers LIVE: Luai scores

Damien McCartney

The Panthers are really targeting that left side, and every time they do they look a chance.

Jarome Luai gave a show and go to Scott Sorensen, and all the Knights defenders were sold.

He strolled through a hole the width of the Hunter Valley to score.

"That was too easy," Andrew Johns quipped for Nine.

Alamoti missed again, this time he pushed it across the face.

It should be noted the Panthers are running into a not insignificant headwind in this first half.
