N.J. man charged in deadly stabbing of landlord

A Mays Landing man has been charged with stabbing his landlord to death, authorities said.

Michael Carney, 39, was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder and weapons offenses, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

Multiple 911 callers reported that someone was being stabbed at 798 Park Road, shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers arrived and found the landlord, Solomon Lonner, 49, of Lakewood, inside the home, suffering from multiple stab wounds, officials said.

Carney was arrested on scene after police identified him as the suspect in the stabbing.

Lonner was later pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, authorities said. An autopsy is pending.
