The latest round of Sears and Kmart store closures will shutter 46 locations nationally, including the Sears store at the Hamilton Mall in Atlantic County, the company announced Wednesday.
Sears is one of three anchor tenants at the Hamilton Mall, which is on the Black Horse Pike. The store will close in November, though its auto center will shut down in late October. Liquidation sales are expected to start early next month.
The Hamilton Mall location was among 33 Sears and 13 Kmart locations deemed "unprofitable" by the struggling Sears Holding Corp.
"We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which is a critical component to our integrated retail transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed," the company said in a statement.
The number of layoffs from the store closure was not disclosed.
The news follows multiple rounds of closures that has seen the footprint of Sears and Kmart shrink in New Jersey.
In May, Sears Holding Corp. announced 72 closures nationally amid a dismal first quarter earnings report that showed a $424 million loss. For New Jersey, that list included:
- Sears at the Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrenceville
- Sears on at the Seaview Square Mall Route 66 in Ocean Township
- Sears at The Center Burlington Mall in Burlington
- Kmart on Barbour Avenue in Clifton
In January, Sears said 103 stores were to close in the first three months of the year, including the Sears in the Ocean County Mall.
Sears will have 11 remaining stores in New Jersey as well as several outlet and hardware store locations. Kmart has 13 remaining New Jersey stores.
