A sushi joint is closing after operating in New Jersey for over three decades.
Daikichi of Montclair said its last day was Saturday, Sept. 16.
The Japanese restaurant located at 608 Valley Rd. is best known for its fan-favorite sushi sandwich.
”Daikichi will be closing its doors this Saturday, 9/16 after 35 years of business,” a message on the restaurant’s website reads. “This was an incredibly difficult decision to make and while we are sad to say goodbye to this era, our family is ready to move on to its next chapter. Thank you for your support, thank you for the wonderful memories created together, thank you for allowing us to build a home here. We are forever grateful.”
Daikichi originally opened in 1988.
The eatery serves traditional and specialty sushi rolls and platters, a sushi sandwich, udon, dumplings and bento.
Daikichi was ranked 25th on NJ.com’s latest ranking of New Jersey’s 35 greatest sushi restaurants.
