Camden County College working to enhance human services career tracks

New Jersey students seeking a future in a human services field will have comprehensive career pathways to follow from high school through college and beyond when Camden County College completes work under a $1.2 million state Department of Education grant.

As the lead agency under the four-year Career and Technical Education Partnership Grant, the College will work with the Edison Public School District in North Jersey to compile resources, link technologies and collaborate with professionals in secondary and higher education; labor and workforce development; and business and industry.

The goal is to enhance education in four nationally recognized human services career tracks – early childhood, counseling, consumer services and personal care programming – by standardizing curricula, providing professional development and developing student leadership opportunities.

All two and four-year institutions of higher education throughout the state were invited to apply for the grant. Camden County College received one of only six awards that were given.

"These funds will provide new opportunities for the College to meet its mission of equipping New Jersey's 21st-century workforce with the academic and technical skills necessary for career success and advancement," said Maureen Reidenauer, program coordinator for the CCC's Division of School and Academic Programs. "The awarding of this grant recognizes the College as a leader in the development of statewide education models for postsecondary readiness."
