Fashion show raised $70,000 for Ronald McDonald House in Camden

CAMDEN — The Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey held the 14th annual American Girl Doll Fashion Show during last weekend.

More than 1,500 attendees and 100 volunteers came together for the worthwhile cause.
The show, which celebrates the experience of being a girl, raised more than $70,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey, a home-away-from-home for seriously ill children and their families.

"We are tremendously thankful to all the families who spend their time and talents to help produce a truly enjoyable and successful event each year," said Teddy Thomas, executive director of the House. "The money raised enables us to help create a safe haven for families in crisis dealing with the health complications of their children."

A total of five shows were held at the Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield, N.J. on March 12 and 13. The event was sponsored by Ravitz Family ShopRites in South Jersey, TD Bank, Keystone Foods, GEICO and Bernard's Salon. The show is the House's most popular event and featured 125 young girls as models from all over the South Jersey and Philadelphia region modeling the American Girl Historical and Spring Collections.

Van Dexter Design, located in Sewell, N.J., donated a custom made armoire made from a single 80 year old Oak tree for the event's grand prize raffle. This is the 14th year Van Dexter Design has donated the grand prize armoire, which is always a very popular prize and raised more than $16,000.

Located in Camden, the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey provides a home-away-from home for seriously ill children and their families. In addition to its residential facility in Camden, Ronald McDonald House operates family rooms, specially designed waiting areas in pediatric units of ten South Jersey hospitals, to assist families whose children are being treated in those facilities.
