Teen, 15, faces six years for role in robberies of food delivery personnel in Camden County

CAMDEN —  A 15-year-old has admitted he was behind a rash of robberies of food delivery people in January in Lindenwold.

The teenager from Clementon pleaded guilty in Juvenile Court here to four counts of armed robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk said.

The teen faces six years in the Jamesburg Juvenile Detention Center.

The teen, Faulk said, was one of a group who participated in a string of robberies on food delivery staff. The group would bait the delivery personnel by calling an order to various locations, then rob the person who arrived with the food. In three successful robberies the 15-year-old held a silver plastic pellet gun used to threaten the delivery personnel.

The group successfully targeted the China House and Chan's Garden on Jan. 4 and Papa John's on Jan. 12.

On Jan. 14, the group targeted Scotto's Pizza but the delivery personnel, on arrival, declined to make the delivery after becoming suspicious of the location. The same thing happened on Jan. 16 involving a delivery for Red Leaf.

The group was caught after police recognized the phone number used to order the deliveries and inserted an undercover officer as a delivery man. On Jan. 17, the group called Balsamo's Pizza in Lindenwold and the delivery was made by an undercover Lindenwold officer. When the group attempted to rob him they were arrested.

A 17-year-old from Lindenwold pleaded guilty in February to two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery for his part in two of the incidents and will serve a two-year term of incarceration or two years of residential placement.

Two adults, Hassanah Muslim, 20, of Lindenwold, and Jamal Morris, 18, of Moorestown, both face charges in connection with the robberies, as does another Lindenwold 17-year-old. Those cases are pending.
