DRPA, PATCO to do Earth Day cleanup

CAMDEN — With Earth Day approaching on Friday, DRPA and PATCO will be joining in with a big cleanup planned for Camden on Wednesday, April 20.

Customers may notice at DRPA Bridges and PATCO stations work crews on cleanup patrol making sure facilities, grounds and parking lots are free of trash, as well as cutting grass.

DRPA CEO John J. Matheussen said the authority has a “Go Green” mindset which is practiced on a daily basis.

“Whether it's think before you print, going paperless when possible, or a major overhaul of the Authority's fleet program, the DRPA constantly works to reduce its carbon footprint by making our operations more environmentally friendly,” said Matheussen.

The authority's Fleet Management Program continues to benefit the environment and has resulted in budgetary savings of an estimated $1.2 million.

Consolidation efforts in the Fleet Management Program have resulted in 57 fewer vehicles, smaller vehicles and the use of hybrids. There has also been a significant reduction in authority fuel consumption.
