Ben Franklin span to be closed for Tour de Shore charirty bike ride

CAMDEN — The Benjamin Franklin Bridge will be closed to motorized traffic from 7 until 8:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31 to permit cyclists participating in the 24th annual Irish Pub Tour de Shore to cross the span, the Delaware River Port Authority has announced.

The bike ride, expected to attract 1,200, benefits police and fire related charities. The 65 mile bike tour begins at the Irish Pub, 20th and Walnut streets in Philadelphia and ends at the Irish Pub in Atlantic City.   Officials hope to raise more than $200,000 for the Daniel Faulkner Educational Grant Fund, the FOP Survivors Fund and the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia.
