Pennsauken victim, 8, dies from injuries of Lindenwold hit-and-run crash; was heading home from amusement park outing when struck

LINDENWOLD — An 8-year-old child who was struck by a hit-and-run driver on the way home from an amusement park died Thursday from his injuries.

Jahmil Alford died at about 11 a.m. in Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Michael Finkelman, 57, of Pine Hill, was charged Wednesday night with leaving the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said. The charge has been changed to leaving the scene of a fatal crash. Additional charges may be filed as the case is reviewed.

Finkelman allegedly was driving a 1988 Oldsmobile station wagon at about 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of the White Horse Pike and Elm Avenue as the child and relatives, from Pennsauken, were heading to the PATCO station here after being at Clementon Park amusement park, said authorities.

Finkelman allegedly hit the 8-year-old, then drove away, authorities said.

A driver reportedly followed Finkelman and reported Finkelman’s license plate number to police, authorities said.

It is approximately three miles between the amusement park and the PATCO station.
