N.J. pets in need: Sept. 27, 2021

The American Cancer Society’s fourth annual Bark For Life will take place on Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mannino Park in Old Bridge.

Bark For Life of Central New Jersey is a walk for dogs and their owners (teams and individuals). The event is intended to raise funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. The event also features a vendor fair and festival, contests (best costume, best trick, dog and owner look alike, biggest/smallest dog), and demonstrations.

Every dollar of every donation supports the fight against cancer, for research, treatment, patient support, free transportation to and from treatment centers and lodging at Hope Lodges across the country.

The grand marshal this year is Jersey Shore native Bad Boy Bass, who is a two-time cancer survivor. His owner sews his vest every year with the names of cancer survivors that he walks for.

Registration and check-in begin at 11 a.m. with opening ceremonies at noon. There is a $20 registration fee for the first dog and owner and $10 for each additional dog/participant. Each registered dog will receive an event bandana and the first 100 registered dogs will receive a doggie goody swag bag.

Mannino Park is located at 1 Mannino Park Drive. For more information on the event, email senior development manager Vicky Allen at [email protected] or call 732-497-2470. You can also go to www.RelayForLife.org/BarkCentralNJ.
