A New Jersey cop was injured after an alleged drunk driver struck his patrol car on Wednesday night.

Brick Patrolman Michael Dinnebeil had stopped another vehicle on Route 70 eastbound in the area of Kentwood Boulevard around 11:45 p.m. and was still in his car when he was hit, according to Brick police.

Corey Breitenbruck, 38, of Point Pleasant, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and assault by auto, along with other motor vehicle violations, police said.

Dinnebeil was taken to Ocean Medical Center, where he was treated for unspecified injuries and released.

This was one of two Wednesday incidents involving police narrowly escaping serious injury at the hands of an alleged impaired driver.

Antonio Latona, 22, of Hackettstown, is accused of crossing over the centerline and running a Mansfield Township officer off the road Wednesday afternoon.

The officer was able to stop the motorist, who was charged with possession of heroin, driving under the influence and reckless driving, among other offenses.

In reporting that arrest, Mansfield police noted this was the second incident in recent weeks of an officer nearly struck by an intoxicated driver.
