Girls basketball: Immaculata beats Newton in Belvidere Tournament

Abby Lawrence led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points and Immaculata jumped out to a fast start and led the entire way in a 57-22 win over Newton at the Belvidere Tournament in Belvidere.

Immaculata built a 17-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back to improve to 1-2 in the round-robin event.

Lawrence added six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Kaitlyn Choy chipped in eight points and five steals.

Jordyn Brannick had six points and five blocks for Newton, which fell to 0-2.
