Egg Harbor was 24-1 last season, reaching the Group 4 state final, and it will start off this season with an intriguing matchup against a young Wildwood Catholic squad that reached the South Jersey Non-Public B final in 2016.

Ridgewood at No. 15 Indian Hills, Monday, 4:15
The Maroons aren't in the NJ.com Top 20 yet, but could make a case with a strong start to the season. Indian Hills is already there and Angela Saric is an ace in the circle.

Westfield has been up and down of late but is a perennial Union County powerhouse, while Johnson is coming off its first UCT title in 35 years.

This might be the best game of the week. West Essex is the defending Essex County Tournament champion, and Indian Hills made it to the Bergen County Tournament final. This is a rematch of the North 1, Group 3 semifinals that West Essex won last year

Ewing at No. 8 Robbinsville, Wednesday, 4
Two of Mercer County's marquee programs hook up in an early-season matchups. Ewing was a sectional semifinalist a year ago, while Robbinsville won the Mercer County Tournament with a freshman-laden lineup.

Hightstown at Notre Dame, Wednesday, 4
Hightstown and Notre Dame were both sectional finalists a year ago and have strong enough returning nucleus they can possibly take the next step this season. Hightstown catcher Holly Bridgman and Notre Dame pitcher Angela Giampolo could be two of the top hitters in the state.
