The second season begins

The county tournaments are over, and the only thing left is the state tournament, which begins play this Wednesday. Find out how the final week of the regular season shaped this week's Top 20, with three new teams in the mix.

20-Delaware Valley (12-0)

Last Week:Not Ranked

Delaware Valley, still undefeated at 12-0, will face No. 14 Hunterdon Central in the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex final on Monday. Delaware Valley beat Phillipsburg, 12-6, and slipped past North Hunterdon, 12-11, to reach the tri-county final.

19-Shawnee (12-1)

Last Week: Not Ranked

Shawnee pushed its winning streak to seven games this week with victories against Eastern, 11-6, Washington Township, 12-3, and Kingsway, 12-4.

18-Rumson-Fair Haven (17-2)

Last Week: No. 18

Rumson-Fair Haven will have an opportunity to make some noise on Monday, facing No. 5 Manasquan in the Shore Conference Tournament final for the second straight year. The Bulldogs beat Wall, 14-6, and St. John Vianney, 16-3, to return to the final.

17-St. Augustine (8-7)

Last Week: No. 15

St. Augustine’s losing streak moved to three games this week with losses to St. Anthony (N.Y.), 10-2, and No. 6 Moorestown, 13-6. The Hermits will look to make a run in the Non-Public A tournament this week.

16-Northern Highlands (14-4)

Last Week: Not Ranked

Northern Highlands went 3-0 this week to surge back into the Top 20, most notably with a 6-5 overtime win over Mountain Lakes on Saturday. Northern Highlands also had wins over Glen Rock, 11-6, and Mahwah, 11-2.

15-Ramapo (11-5)

Last Week: No. 15

Ramapo beat St. Joseph (Mont.), 11-7, in its only game this week after falling to Ridgewood in the Bergen County Tournament final last week.

14-Hunterdon Central (11-5)

Last Week: No. 12

Hunterdon Central, which will face top-seeded Delaware Valley in the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament final on Monday night, rolled to wins over Voorhees and Sparta in earlier rounds this week.

13-Mountain Lakes (10-4)

In its only game this week, Mountain Lakes was stunned by Northern Highlands, 6-5, in overtime on Saturday. Mountain Lakes is 2-4 in its last six games, but is still the favorite to win Group 1.

Lenape’s current winning streak reached double-digits this week with wins over Seneca and Clearview. Lenape still has not lost to a New Jersey opponent this season and could face Montgomery in the South Jersey, Group 4 final.

Summit fell to its lowest ranking of the year this week following a 7-2 loss on the road to Ridgewood. The Hilltoppers will look to regain its winning form, entering the state tournament on back-to-back losses.

Westfield fell to No. 4 Seton Hall Prep, 15-7, to open the week before rebounding with a 9-8 win over Princeton ahead of the North Jersey, Group 4 state tournament.

9-Ridgewood (13-3)

Last Week: No. 11

Ridgewood rode its momentum from last weekend’s Bergen County Tournament title this week with a 7-2 victory over then-No. 9 Summit at home. The Maroons will be considered among the favorites in North Jersey, Group 4.

8-Ridge (11-4)

Last Week: No. 13

Ridge rolled past Somerville in the quarterfinals of the Somerset County Tournament before falling to red-hot Montgomery, 13-7, in the semifinals. The Red Devils will shift its focus to the loaded North Jersey, Group 4 state tournament this week.

7-Montgomery (12-3)

Last Week: No. 10

Montgomery rolled into the Somerset County Tournament final this week with a 19-6 win over Bernards and a 13-7 victory over No. 8 Ridge in the semifinals. The Cougars went punch-for-punch with unbeaten Bridgewater-Raritan in the final on Saturday, but ultimately fell, 12-7.

6-Moorestown (11-3)

Last Week: No. 9

Moorestown rebounded from a tight two-goal loss to Bridgewater-Raritan at the end of last week in a big way. The Quakers took down N.J.’s top prep team, Lawerenceville, 16-10, before securing a 13-6 victory against No. 17 St. Augustine.

5-Manasquan (17-1)

Manasquan, now winners of 13 straight games, will face Rumson-Fair Haven in Monday’s Shore Conference Tournament final after an 11-5 win over Christian Brothers in the semifinals. Manasquan also had SCT wins over Holmdel, 16-2, and Howell, 17-2, earlier in the week.

Seton Hall Prep had an impressive 13-3 win over Caldwell to open the week before a 15-7 trouncing of Westfield, the Union County Tournament champion.

Chatham went toe-to-toe with Delbarton in the Morris County Tournament final before falling, 10-8. The Cougars will now begin preparations to defend its Group 2 state title in the next two weeks.

2-Bridgewater-Raritan (15-0)

Last Week: No. 3

Bridgewater-Raritan, one of just two undefeated teams left in the state, won its third straight Somerset County Tournament title on Saturday, topping then-No. 10 Montgomery, 12-7. The Panthers had easy victories over Immaculata and Watchung Hills to reach the final.

1-Delbarton (14-1)

Delbarton topped then-No. 2 Chatham on Tuesday night to secure its fifth straight Morris County Tournament title before capping off the week with an impressive 10-6 win over Chaminade (N.Y.) to hold on to the No. 1 spot.
