Girls basketball Players of the Week for all 15 conferences, Jan. 8-14

We are now in the second month of the high school basketball season. Plenty of players made impacts during the first stretch of the season and NJ.com took a look at the top performer from each conference.

Each week, NJ Advance Media girls basketball reporters Brandon Gould and Brian Deakyne will select one player from each of N.J.'s 15 conferences as the NJ.com Player of the Week. Big North player of the week: Brianna Smith, Pascack Valley, Jr.

Smith started the week with 10 points in a win over Bergenfield and then caught fire against Northern Highlands, hitting five 3-pointers and finishing with 21 points during coach Jeff Jasper's 1,000th career victory. The junior also came through with 25 points against Fair Lawn, connecting on seven 3-pointers in that victory.

Queen registered double-digit outings in all three of Trenton Catholic's games this week – including a 58-44 win over Rancocas Valley on Thursday. Queen had 17 points against Delran, 13 against Rancocas Valey and 19 against Trenton to keep Trenton Catholic's record unbeaten this season.

Weise, one of the top players in the Colonial Valley Conference and the leader on the court for Allentown, had a big week for the Redbirds, going into double-figures in all three games. After scoring 13 points against Hamilton West on Jan. 9, Weise went off for 19 points over West Windsor-Plainsboro North and 20 points against Robbinsville.
