The 20-year-old College of New Jersey (TCNJ) sophomore who was killed in a head-on crash early Sunday will be laid to rest early next week in Union County.

Michael Sot, of Clark, was the designated driver for a group of friends early Sunday morning when his car was struck head-on by an alleged under-the-influence driver.

Five TCNJ students, including Sot, were involved in the crash, and a few are still in critical condition. A sixth person, visiting a friend at TCNJ, was also in the vehicle and seriously injured.

One of the services for Sot will be held on Sunday, at 3 p.m., at the Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home in Westfield, his obituary said.

The family is requesting that friends who wish to attend a funeral Mass for Sot, on Monday at John the Apostle Church in Clark, to meet at the church at 10 a.m.

“Those that knew Michael remember him as an individual that would always put others before himself. He was a trusted and a caring friend to all, and always did the right thing,” his obituary said of him. It echoes what his friends and family have already said publicly.

David Lamar V, 22, of West Windsor, was has been charged with eight felony crimes and related traffic offenses. He is scheduled to appear in Mercer County Court Tuesday.
