N.J. teacher arrested, accused of ‘various sexual acts’ with student

UPDATE: N.J. teacher sexually assaulted student in car, sent nude photos of herself, authorities say

A teacher who resigned from Wall High School this week has been arrested and accused of having a sexual relationship with a student earlier this year, authorities said.

Julie Rizzitello, 36, of Brick, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of criminal sexual contact and a single count of witness tampering, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

Rizzitello had worked for Wall Township Public Schools since 2013, according to public pension records.

A spokesperson for the district could not immediately be reached for comment on Thursday.

Authorities allege that Rizzitello engaged in “various sexual acts” with the student multiple times at locations in Brick, Belmar and Wall Township. The alleged abuse began earlier this year, investigators said.

Rizzitello is the second educator in Monmouth County in the past week to face allegations of having a sexual relationship with a student.

On Saturday, 43-year-old Allison Havemann-Niedrach, of Jackson, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stemmed from allegations during her time working at a middle school in the Freehold Borough School District, officials said.

Rizzitello is being held at Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a detention hearing.
