UPDATE: TCNJ students, others injured in head-on crash remain hospitalized with multiple injuries
Eight people are being treated for serious injuries sustained in a two-car crash near The College of New Jersey in Ewing early Sunday morning, police said.
Two cars with multiple passengers were traveling on the 1800 block of Pennington Road in Ewing when they collided around 2 a.m., police said.
In an email to the campus community Sunday, school officials said five of those injured are enrolled at TCNJ.
Officials identified the injured students as:
- Danielle DeFlores, 21, an open options major from Brick
- Matthew DeGenova, 21, an accounting major from Wall Township
- Anthony Galante, 19, a finance major from North Bellmore, New York
- Ryan Moore, 21, a marketing major from Midland Park
- Michael Sot, 20, a math major from Clark
Dispatchers received several 911 calls about the collision. A preliminary investigation revealed that one vehicle likely crossed the center line and hit the other car head-on, police said.
A total of eight people were injured in the crash and six were listed as being in critical condition.
A spokesperson for Ewing Police said the injuries sustained in the crash included a brain injury, broken bones, a ruptured bladder and multiple lacerations and contusions.
Three of the passengers were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and five passengers were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Police said the parents of those injured were notified.
As of 7:08 p.m. Sunday, a GoFundMe fundraising page for the injured students had drawn $27,964 in donations over a four-hour period. The Signal, TCNJ’s student newspaper, reported the fundraiser had been started by the president of a fraternity to which four of the injured students belong.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated, and Pennington Road has since re-opened to traffic.
