WATCH: Boys jumping from train bridge into Manasquan River prompts police warning

POINT PLEASANT BEACH -- A video of boys jumping off a train bridge into the Manasquan River has led police to remind local residents that the bridge is off-limits and swimming is prohibited in the area below.

CBS-2 cameras caught a group leaping off the NJ Transit bridge that carries the North Jersey Coast line over the river just north of Broadway. Several even did backflips into the river.

Police said there's a no trespassing sign along the tracks and that the area is not designated for swimming.

The water can be shallow at low tide and it's possible the water could contain sharp objects. That part of the river is popular with scuba divers and fisherman, creating another possible hazard.

A fence would also likely do little to deter the daredevils as anyone can easily walk onto the grade-level crossing.
