The four people killed in a fatal crash on the Garden State Parkway Wednesday morning were between the ages of 21 and 24 and all from New Jersey, according to police.
Kevin Quispe-Prieto, 21, of Beachwood, and Jimmy Quispe-Prieto, 23, Victor Lugo, 24 and Robert Ordeñana, 23, all of Lakewood, were killed when their car slammed into the back of a tanker truck, New Jersey State Police said.
The crash took place just before 3 a.m. on the southbound parkway in Toms River. Police said Kevin Quispe-Prieto was driving the Infiniti G37 in the right lane when it hit the truck.
All four were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck’s driver sustained injuries that weren’t considered to be life-threatening.
From Facebook pages belonging to the men, it appears Kevin and Jimmy Quispe-Prieto were brothers, and Ordeñana had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. A spokesman for the U.S. Marines said he could not confirm the status or details of a deceased Marine until at least 24 hours after family members are notified.
Lugo worked for the Lakewood Public Works Department and wanted to become a police officer, according to the Asbury Park Press.
The four were remembered by those who knew them on Facebook.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation Wednesday afternoon.
