An intense fire tore through a two-story beachfront house in Lavallette late Wednesday, destroying the structure and damaging three others before firefighters could bring the blaze under control.

The two-alarm fire began about 11:45 p.m. in the house on Newark Avenue , according to Capt. Frank Stanislaski of the Ocean Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

It took about an hour to bring the most intense part of the fire under control, Stanislaski said.

No injuries were reported.

Crews from several fire companies worked for more than three hours to bring the fire completely under control, fire officials said.

Three structures near the home were also damaged. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, fire officials said.
