‘Luxury glamping’ safari resort opens at N.J.’s Six Flags Great Adventure

The new “luxury glamping” experience inside the 350-acre safari park at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson is now open, officials announced Wednesday.

The resort offers 20 glamping suites in tents that vary in size, sleeping two to six guests, officials said. Each unit has a walk-in shower and HVAC unit.

A safari stay includes a giraffe feeding, daily breakfast and multi-day passes to all three Six Flags Great Adventure Resort parks. Other behind-the-scenes encounters and VIP experiences are available for an additional cost.

The resort is set in the Ocean County theme park’s Wild Safari, which is home to more than 1,200 animals. The animals will not be able to access the suites directly, according to the website.

A couple’s suite at the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa starts at $700 per night, and rates rise to at least $1,200 per night for a family glamping suite for four guests, according to the website.

On certain dates in September, the rate for a couple’s suite decreases to $550 per night, according to the website.

There is a two-night minimum for each stay, officials previously said.

“Our full Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa team is dedicated to making every guest experience personalized and unique,” said Elizabeth Bransky-Cannata, the resort’s manager.

Guests have traveled to the resort from as far as Europe, and as close as Philadelphia and New Jersey, she said.

“What they all seem to have in common is a love for animals and a desire to experience something that is one-of-a-kind and totally unique,” Bransky-Cannata said.

The resort officially opened on June 14, according to the website.

The resort is accepting reservations through Sept. 2, and select days through Dec. 1, officials said. Reservations are also open for the summer of 2025.

“Each luxury suite offers a private bathroom and access to outdoor entertainment, fire pits, restaurant & bar, spa services, event meeting space and more,” the website says.

To arrive at the resort, guests will park at a private, covered parking area, which is adjacent to the main Great Adventure parking lot, and leave their luggage in their car. A park attendant will escort the guests and their luggage to the safari resort in a private vehicle after they check in, the website says.

All guests must be at least 5 years old to stay at the resort.

The resort is also available to host small events, including weddings and corporate retreats, officials said. More information is available at the resort’s website at www.sixflags.com/savannahsunset.

The new resort is one of the largest investments in the theme park in nearly two decades, officials said. Six Flags is also debuting its 15th roller coaster this summer, called THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity, the first coaster of its kind in North America.
