Finish Jersey Shore road that ends before the shore | Letters

To all who travel on Route 55 South, the “road to nowhere,” because it dead-ends before it reaches Cape May County beach resort towns:

This highway was started in 1969. Now it’s 55 years of not completing the last 20 miles to the Wildwoods and Cape May, as designed.

I believe the main holdup is Trenton legislators, local politicians and groups like Sierra Club New Jersey. These legislators and politicians must have special-interest groups who donate to their campaigns, so they’ll be in office to vote against this badly needed extension. (The road now ends at an often-congested, non-expressway Route 47 in Maurice River Township, Cumberland County.)
