Morris man accused of punching woman in assault captured on iPhone

HOPATCONG — A Morris County man was arrested for allegedly punching a woman who accused him of breaking into her borough home in an incident that was recorded by a witness on his iPhone, police said.

Chad Hendershot, 20, of Morristown was loading an ATV into a truck with two friends on Tulsa Trail when police said a vehicle with two females pulled up. One of the females, Amelia Pizarro, 18, then approached Henderson, accusing him of breaking into their home on Maxim Drive and stealing their property, police said.

On the iPhone recording, Pizarro is seen following Hendershot around the truck, yelling at him and then turning to walk away, police said.

As she turns away, Hendershot is seen hitting her on the side of the head with a closed fist and Pizarro is seen falling down from the blow, police said. Hopatcong police Lt. Tom Kmetz said Pizarro suffered from pain from being hit and falling down, but was not seriously injured.

Hendershot was arrested for assault by Officer James Bianculli and released on his own recognizance. Pizarro declined to make a police report on the alleged burglary.

The incident occurred at 6:10 p.m. on July 12 when Bianculli responded to Tulsa Trail for a report of a large fight, but found no one fighting.
