One killed in Sussex County hit-and-run in Sandyston

One person was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Route 206 in Sandyston on Sunday night, police said.

SANDYSTON — One person was killed in a hit-and-run accident on a Sandyston roadway late Sunday night, police said.

The victim, who was not identified, was struck in the southbound lanes of Route 206 in Sandyston around 10:34 p.m., said Sgt. Adam Grossman, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Grossman, who said the road was closed in both directions as part of the investigation.

Grossman did not know the gender of the victim, and police did not release a description of the vehicle.
