Vice President Kamala Harris will be returning to Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans this week.

Essence announced Monday that Harris will be interviewed Saturday by Caroline Wanga, its president and CEO, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

“Let’s get into some things, put the fiction to rest, and let the facts speak for themselves, shall we?” Essence said in an Instagram post. “Coming together with the common goal of US at the forefront is the agenda."

Harris, the first female vice president in U.S. history, who is both Black and south Asian, has spoken at Essence the last two years.

Both years, Harris railed against rulings by the Supreme Court where justices appointed by then-President Donald Trump have given conservatives a voting majority.

This year, Harris will be coming to New Orleans amid a flood of questions about whether President Joe Biden ought to remain as the Democratic presidential nominee after last week’s debate widely panned debate performance.

James Carville, the New Orleans-based Democrat, is one of many pundits calling on Biden to step aside for a younger Democratic candidate.

Harris has only voiced her support for Biden since then.

Biden has given no indication that he is willing to drop out of the race.

Harris has seemed particularly at home at Essence, speaking to audiences that consist primarily of Black women, the base of the Democratic Party.

Harris has also fit in fundraisers on her past two trips to New Orleans.

She will be coming to Essence almost two weeks after former President Donald Trump raised a reported $5 million at the Uptown New Orleans home of business owner Boysie Bollinger.
