Power has been restored to affected customers along the Uptown parade route after a paper streamer was shot into a transformer during Krewe of Thoth.

Roughly 35 customers were affected and the Krewe of Bacchus parade was briefly delayed as Entergy crews worked to restore power.

In previous years, cannons shooting Mylar streamers have caused problems for residents along the parade route. About 1,000 customers were without power during the parade Krewe of Cleopatra in 2023 and the the New Orleans City Council moved to ban Mylar confetti

Today, only machines shooting paper streamers are allowed.

Correction: This story was changed on Feb. 11, 2024 to note that the streamer that knocked out power was shot off during Thoth.
