Bastille Day is Sunday, July 14, and it's no surprise that New Orleans is ready to celebrate all weekend long. From block parties to special menus to cheese sales, here are seven festive ways to say Vive la France without leaving the city!

Bastille Day Kickoff Party

Bring your lawn chairs and join the Pitot House in celebrating its French Heritage on Thursday, July 11. The festive lawn party will take place from 6-8 p.m. and will include live music as well as food for purchase from Café Degas. Tickets are available for purchase online ($15 for members and $20 for nonmembers) or at the door and include two glasses of French wine or a French 75 inspired cocktail.

Faubourg St. John Bastille Day Celebration

Get ready to fête during the 17th Annual Faubourg St. John Merchant’s Bastille Day Block Party. Taking place Saturday, July 13, the neighborhood merchants will have food and beverages for sale alongside an art market. Stop by any time from 5-9 p.m. to enjoy lively French tunes, a costume contest (taking place around 5:30 p.m.), and comraderie with fellow Francophiles. Participants include Café Degas, Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association, French American Chamber of Commerce Gulf Coast Chapter, Le Ponce, Pal’s Lounge, Swirl Wines, and special food truck guests.

The block party will take place on the 3100 Block of Ponce de Leon Street


Bar Pomona Tour de France

Take a page out of Ian McNulty's book, and stop by Bar Pomona this month for their special dining series. Enjoy Tour de France coverage, special bites, and fantastic wine from across the country. The region changes weekly, and from Thursday, July 11 - Monday, July 15, you'll a trip to the Pyrenees without having to leave New Orleans (or bike up a mountain). The restaurant is open from 4-9 p.m. for dinner on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday and for brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Bastille Day Fête 2024

Join the Alliance Française on Friday, July 12 for its annual Bastille Day celebration! Taking place from 6-10 p.m., attendees can aspect live music, a silent disco, plenty of French food and drinks, games, a costume contest, and more! Tickets are available online through Thursday, July 11 ($5 for members and $10 for nonmembers) and tickets will be available at the door for $15. Plus, if you're in the mood to dress up as a French stereotype, you will receive free refreshment tickets upon entry!

Bastille Day Oeufs Brouillés Brunch

Start Bastille Day off with Effervescence! Enjoy the restaurant's special Oeufs Brouillés Brunch featuring local soft-scrambled eggs with a glass of Champs for just $35! Special toppings (like crabmeat and caviar), other bites, and a full beverage menu can also be ordered.

Annual French Cheese Sale

In honor of Bastille Day, St. James Cheese Company is hosting its annual French cheese sale at both stores. Stock up for your at-home celebration (or just because), and enjoy 20% off all French cheeses through Sunday, July 14.

Bastille Day at Couvant

Conclude your Bastille Day in style with an exclusive three-course dinner menu complete with wine pairings at Couvant. On Sunday, July 14 at 6 p.m., guests will dine on French classics like escargot and crème brûlée while enjoying the sounds of Pardon My French. Tickets are $85 per person and reservations are suggested.
