A 3-year-old girl was killed and her 2-year-old sister was injured while crossing a Harlem street Thursday with their mother and baby sister.
The family was crossing W. 135th St. at Lenox Ave. outside Harlem Hospital when the 40-year-old driver of a blue Nissan Pathfinder made a left turn and hit the children around 7:40 p.m., police said.
“The guy who hit her picked her up and brought her into the hospital,” a witness who asked not to be named told the Daily News. “He was with his family, but he was not going to leave her.”

Despite being struck steps from a hospital, the little girl could not be saved as her 37-year-old mother became inconsolable.
“It was terrible,” said the witness. “That poor baby and her mother. She was hysterical.”
The injured 2-year-old girl was expected to survive her injuries. The girls’ mother and their 4-month-old sister were not hit by the driver, police said.
Outside the hospital later Thursday, the girl’s uncle remembered his “smart and funny” niece.
“She was only a baby, and she’s passed,” said the man. “She was loved, very loved. She was a real sweetheart.”
The driver stayed on the scene and there were no immediate arrests, according to police.
“We’re doing bad,” the uncle added. “Really bad.”
