Alan Armand Feuer served as a United States Army Hawk Launcher Missile Crewmember and as the Training Non-Commissioned Officer at C Battery, 4th Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery, 94th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, United States Army Europe from June 1985 to March 1989. 

He was awarded several medals and awards for demonstrating professionalism, technical competence, dedication, and loyalty during several General Command inspections and multiple Allied Air Forces Central Europe Tactical Evaluations, which greatly contributed to the success of his unit’s vital NATO Air Defense mission. Mr. Feuer then joined the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, gaining the rank of Sergeant while serving with A Company, U.S. Army Garrison from 1989 to 1992 during Operation Desert Storm. 

After his honorable discharge in 1992, Mr. Feuer took advantage of the GI Bill and graduated from the University of Maryland at Frostburg State in 1994 with a degree in accounting. Upon graduation, Mr. Feuer went on to pursue a career in financial services. Mr. Feuer joined Post 1836 – Boulevard Gardens of the American Legion and was later elected as the Post Adjutant. 

Upon the sudden passing of their devoted Post Commander, James Lanza, Mr. Feuer was elected unanimously as the new Commander in April 2017. Mr. Feuer wasted no time in his new role and organized a joint Memorial Day ceremony and tribute to the former Legionnaire and FDNY member, James Lanza. 

While serving as the Commander of his Post, he has continued the tradition of holding annual Memorial Day ceremonies at Boulevard Gardens in Woodside, Queens, even during the pandemic. As Post Commander, Mr. Feuer and Post 1836 have helped serve the community, maintain relationships with stakeholders, honor veterans, and fundraise for the NYS Veterans Home (St. Albans, Queens), the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the Gary Sinise Foundation, the World War II Roundtable, and the Wounded Warriors Project. 

Mr. Feuer’s contributions are in keeping with the highest tradition of service to the country, State, and our community. Mr. Feuer has served as the Commander of his American Legion Post since April 2017, and is now the Post’s longest serving Commander in its 60-plus-year history
