Good evening, friends. It’s here.

The original plan here was to clown the NHL for making the first night of the Stanley Cup playoffs “one and done.” Maybe whine about it a little bit. But no! I shan’t! We get one plate of food tonight, then make four passes through the buffet line tomorrow. It’ll be fine. I’m still not entirely sure why they couldn’t rig up a 10 ET start after Bruins-Caps, Dom’s preview is here, but it’s fine. We can conserve energy. It’s also too early to complain about this sort of thing. We’re going to have a couple months’ worth of opportunities, and what a gift that will be.

Here are some highlights from our playoff preview coverage:

» Our full-staff NHL playoff predictions, first-round upset picks and Conn Smythe picks.

» The Stanley Cup tiers, where anonymous executives, coaches, scouts and players rate every team. Tonight is a battle of Tier 2 teams, btw.

» Two dullards ranked the playoff teams 1-16, then wrote haikus for the other 15.

» I also really liked this from Sean Shapiro, taking us inside the continent’s first in-arena sports book … at Capital One Arena, naturally.
