The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms with veteran quarterback Nick Foles on a two-year deal, according to multiple reports.

Sources told The Athletic on Friday that the team was working to add Foles to the roster.

Foles led the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory in 2017 and, if he ultimately signs with Indianapolis as expected, will once again team up with head coach Frank Reich, who was Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator that year.

The 6-foot-6, 256-pound passer has played in 68 games during his 10 NFL seasons and has completed 62.4 percent of his passes for 14,003 yards, 82 touchdowns and 43 interceptions. He spent the past two seasons with the Chicago Bears, where he started eight of the 10 games he appeared in.

Foles would become the second veteran quarterback the Colts add this offseason, if the deal gets done. Prior to the 2022 NFL Draft, the franchise traded for longtime Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback Matt Ryan, who is expected to be the team’s starter this season.

What would Foles bring to the Colts?

Stephen Holder, Colts beat writer: The Colts feel great about landing Ryan to be their starting quarterback. And they have every reason to think Ryan will be durable and available for the entire season; he's missed just three games in his 14 seasons.

But the Colts have a very inexperienced backup in second-year player Sam Ehlinger. They learned a lesson last season when Carson Wentz played injured in a loss to Tennessee and immediately after coming off the COVID-19 reserve list in a loss to the Raiders.

Had the Colts had a more optimal quarterback situation in either game, they might have been inclined to turn to their backup.
