Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman will not be on the team’s American League Division Series roster, manager Aaron Boone said on Sunday.

Chapman did not show up for the Yankees’ workout on Friday, and Boone said he did not have an acceptable reason for not being there. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said he fined Chapman for not being at the workout.

The 34-year-old left-hander has posted a 4.46 ERA in 43 appearances this season with nine saves. Chapman returned from the injured list in September after missing almost a month due to a leg infection from a tattoo. He missed time earlier in the season with tendinitis in his left Achilles.

The Yankees open the ALDS against the Cleveland Guardians at home on Tuesday.
