Panthers wide receiver Robbie Anderson was sent to the locker room by interim coach Steve Wilks during Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams after Anderson appeared to twice get in a disagreement with wide receivers coach Joe Dailey.

Anderson sat by himself on the sidelines following the first confrontation, in which he came face-to-helmet with Dailey in apparent frustration. He was not part of the offense’s between-series meetings, but returned to the game during the last play in the third quarter, before he was sent to the locker room by Wilks.

Asked about Anderson’s future after the Panthers’ 24-10 loss on Sunday, Wilks said everyone’s being evaluated.

The Panthers are aiming to earn their first win under Wilks, who was named interim coach earlier this week when the organization fired Matt Rhule, who also coached Anderson at Temple.

Anderson said he was “confused” by the decision to send him off.

“Because I wanna be in the game,” he said. “I’ve never been told in X amount of years to get out (of) the game in the fourth quarter, so I was honestly confused and upset by it as I should be … I don’t see nobody that’s a true competitor that knows the value they bring, and has true passion toward the game, that will be OK with being told not to do something or being taken out of something when they didn’t do nothing wrong.”

The Panthers are actively shopping Anderson, league sources told The Athletic. Anderson joined the Panthers in 2020 under Rhule. He’s averaged 15.8 yards with 13 receptions and one receiving touchdown during the 2022 season.
